David Horak

David Horak, a native of Vermont, is an active performer and enjoys a wide range of music. Since January 2024, he has been an acting member of the first violin section of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.

David completed both his undergraduate degree and graduate certificate at the International Center for Music at Park University, where he studied with Ben Sayevich. From 2018 to 2023, he served as concertmaster of the ICM Orchestra and continues to return as a substitute with the Kansas City Symphony.

David regularly returns to perform with the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra (NH), of which he was a member from 2013 to 2018. In 2021, he joined the Upper Valley Baroque Orchestra (NH) for its inaugural season. Since 2016, he has been a member of Opera North’s Summerfest Orchestra, performing in productions including La Bohème, The Marriage of Figaro, Tosca, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Barber of Seville, Macbeth, and The Magic Flute.

An avid chamber musician, David has collaborated frequently with faculty at the International Center for Music, performing works such as Schubert’s String Quintet, Brahms’s Sextet No. 2, and Mendelssohn’s Octet.
He has participated in numerous summer festivals, including the Music Academy of the West, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, National Youth Orchestra of the USA, Decoda/Skidmore Chamber Music Festival, Kinhaven Music School, and the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music.

As a soloist on both violin and piano, David has appeared with the ICM Orchestra, Windham Orchestra (VT), University of Vermont Orchestra, and the Burlington Chamber Orchestra.

In his free time, David enjoys cooking, riding motorcycles, playing frisbee with colleagues from the Charlotte Symphony, and spending time with his wife, Hanna, and their two Dalmatians.
